Tracy Anderson Metamorphosis End of Sequence II and Dr. Perricone Metabolic Miracle Makeover Diet

So I finished up Tracy Anderson’s Sequence II last week, and I have to say it was a struggle the whole time.  And my husband came out to visit my sis and I in great ol’ Houston, and we went out to eat a lot, and I think I had a **little** bit too much fun eating and enjoying myself.  It’s frustrating, because I worked out hard, yet my poor eating did not reflect it.  And I also didn’t get sick per se, but I got really drained, so I didn’t work out quite as hard or as much as I should have, but I did it, so it’s DONE!!  There were some days I was on fire and did a few 45 minute cardio workouts, then there were other days that I barely made it through the 30 minutes of cardio.  It was a really rough week, and I had LOTS of work, which went well, just very busy and exhausting.  I also did not get as much sleep as I should have, which I think really affected my workouts and exhaustion.  I DID, however, walk a TON, and I mean SO MUCH WALKING!!!

Remember, listen to your body.  Know the difference between being lazy and being exhausted.  Just because this is a 90-day program, I fully expect to keep up with this hopefully for a very long time and continue with the next Metamorphosis, not end it like I did Bootcamp with no plan afterward.

I also have decided to try to add a 20 minute Callanetics video into the mix.  I don’t like rocking the boat, and in the past I have always seemed to burn myself by changing “this” or adding “that” into something to make it so-called “perfect” only to get overwhelmed and stop entirely.  However, I have read really good reviews about it and I want to add a little bit more of legs as well as some stretching, which Tracy’s videos don’t really cover stretching.  Here is a link to Amazon of all the different videos:  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Callanetics.  I will rotate Callanetics Hips and Behind and Callenetics Legs.  I feel pretty happy with Tracy’s ab and arm workouts, so I just want a little extra for legs and mainly the stretching.  I did the Hips and Behind and really enjoyed it!  It is teeny tiny movements, even more smaller than Bar Method, I mean itty bitty leg movements, but it really gets in there.

Warning:  It’s late ’80s, early ’90s, so for those who like really updated stuff, this wouldn’t be for you.  I, however, kind of love it.

Part of me feels Tracy’s workouts aren’t long enough compared to her old stuff.  I think making cardio 45 minutes really helps as well as adding in a little bit extra muscular work, whether that be one of her webisodes, doing certain parts of the video twice, or adding in a little extra (like Callantics) might be a good idea.  BUT when I am pressed for time, it’s great knowing that I CAN get in an amazing workout in an hour, so I’m not complaining too much.  It really is a WONDERFUL DVD set, and it’s so GREAT being able to switch workouts every 10 days.

Gwyneth Paltrol, who, if you don’t know, is in business with Tracy Anderson and credits her to changing her body, is on the cover of Self this month, so I had to get it, and in it, she spoke of how she does an hour and a half of working out five days a week, but if she has a big event or has eaten too much, she does six days a week for two hours each day.  She looks AMAZING.  I did, however, feel so heart-broken for her when she spoke about her late-dad in the article.  Cancer is just so rotten.  I think, personally, five days a week is sometimes so much more attainable than six, so I am debating on to drop to five days but on those days, increase my workouts to ALWAYS doing 45 minutes of cardio and then throwing in an extra workout of Callanetics or more Tracy MS.  I’m not sure yet…

I am ALSO going to FINALLY do Dr. Perricone’s Metabolic Miracle Cleanse!  I have been wanting to do this since last November but there was too much happening.  I have the supplements, was able to make it over to Whole Foods (which stinks because no car = taxi), and I am completely prepared now.  It is a 10-Day cleanse, and what’s great is for ONCE it is a cleanse where it is pure fat you lose and NOT muscle, according to the good doc.  Unfortunately, his website doesn’t really speak about it anymore, but you can find out more by purchasing his ”Forever Young” book:  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Callanetics  (I have it on hard copy and Kindle on my Droid) or find out info from his Facebook page, which is a GREAT source of really helpful people!   I asked some questions and they are all super sweet!! <3  You can probably use the Almighty Google as well for info, and hopefully my blog will help you once this is all said and done!! : )  Also, Sephora finally sells the supplements that go along with the cleanse.  Unfortunately, a 10-Day course of the supplements costs $75.  After my trip to Whole Foods, the cleanse seems like it will come out to around $11-13 a day plus $7.50 for the supplements, so it’s not super cheap.  You don’t HAVE to do the supplements, but it helps curb your appetite and frees your cells up to do their thing.

The supplements consist of:

  • Co Q10 and Carnitine
  • Omega-3
  • Glutamine
  • Niacin-bound chromium
  • CLA
  • Curcurmin (Tumeric)

All good and healthy supplements for sure, again, it’s just a bit pricey.   But if you bought them separately, you would probably spend more.

A lot of women seem to do the cleanse about once a month to get to their goal weight.  Go ahead and Like Dr. Perricone on Facebook, and I think you can gain access to this group and link.  Here is all about the shake you drink:  http://www.facebook.com/#!/topic.php?uid=35748994050&topic=15155.  I have to say, I am really excited about this.  I hate this about myself, but being as neurotic as I am (which I am SURE some of you guys are, too) it’s so GREAT having a structure set out for you.  Eat this, Watch this, Take this.

I like cleanses…a lot.  If Master Cleanse wasn’t all sugar, which even though it has vitamins and minerals, I think it’s horrible for your system, I would LOVE to do it again.  Juice fasts, cleanses, I just love it!  Of all the cleanses I have done, and even Tracy Anderson’s Boot Camp cleanse, I feel like this one is by far the best one I have ever heard.  I feel good about this cleanse.  It should hopefully be a good 8-10 weight loss in 10 days, again, of FAT, not muscle.

I will give recipes and pics throughout the week!!  I am hoping to blog almost every day while doing the cleanse, and I hope to throw in a vlog or two as well.  I am also going to take some before and afters of me.

So…here is to Sequence III of Tracy Anderson Metamorphosis, ’80s leotards of Callanetics, and lots of shakes and Salmon!

Tracy Anderson Metamorphosis Days 8, 9, 10, and 11 and WHAT ON EARTH TO EAT?!

So…I’ve been busy, frustrated, but got in my workouts!!  I switched my days off of Wednesdays to be Saturdays since that seems to be my busy fun day, so I didn’t work out on Saturday, and I’m glad, because I REALLY needed that day off.  My body and mind were completely wiped.

Do you ever notice that when you are mentally so drained working out is sometimes more difficult than when you are physically drained?  Maybe it’s because being mentally wiped out drains you so much physically, I don’t know, but it was great having that Saturday off.  I WANTED to take off Sunday, but I was reading other blogs and Facebook and was inspired so I wanted to keep going six days a week.  It’s easy to make excuses, but Sunday was a really good workout, so I’m glad I stuck it out.

I probably won’t be blogging every day for my workouts and eating but on days I end a sequence, begin a sequence, or if I feel like rambling about something.  : )  I get so inspired by reading other’s blogs, it’s fun to be part of that world.  YOU guys inspire me so much.

I have been frustrated because I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO EAT!!!  Doesn’t that sound so silly?  You eat food!  But what counts as food anymore?  I don’t consider a Twinkie as food, but many other people do.  Some people don’t worry about and just eat “normal” but are they just setting themselves up for sickness in the future?  Unless you are with someone or you yourself is sick with disease, you might not give it much thought.  I was beyond set for Dr. Fuhrman’s “Eat to Live” way of eating, which is high nutrient, low-fat, low grain micronutrient way of eating, which I still think is good, but now I am wondering about how low-fat he goes.

The whole saturated fat thing gets confusing.  It’s interesting how before the introduction of vegetable oil in everything, heart disease didn’t really exist like it does today.  People just ate normal.  But when you start throwing in highly rancid, heat unstable oils like soybean, canola, and corn, as well as processed grains, it gets pretty ugly.  I think I am becoming more and more convinced to eat food the way God made it, and if I can’t kill it, pluck it, gather it, or grow it, maybe it’s not so good.  I know God originally planned it so we ate of the Garden, but it changed later on.  Even Jesus ate fish.

It’s interesting how our cells are made up of saturated fat and how we are getting WAY too many Omega 6 fats, which are inflammatory, which come from vegetable oils, and not enough Omega 3 fats, which are anti-inflammatory.

It just gets so overwhelming, because what is the true way to avoid diseases in our day, not just weight loss, but actual cancers, heart attacks, all of it?  I definitely think Dr. Fuhrman knows what he is doing and has cured thousands of people of disease, and I don’t think Atkins is the way to go due to just TOO much meat and not enough good foods; if you eat too much meat, especially non-organic red beef, and processed meats, that can cause a lot of colon and stomach cancers, but just eat NORMAL FOOD, not the processed junk that is around today.

I think you can definitely do vegan and vegetarian right.  I ADORE Courtney Pool’s blog, www.CourtneyPool.com, who is amazingly all raw vegan and does it right, tons of greens and spirulina, which I need to get again, but so many vegans do it wrong just like non-vegetarians.  We just eat too many, inflammatory foods.

You ever see those people that are incredibly skinny but look HORRIBLE?  They look ten years older and are wrinkly?  I don’t want that to be me.  It’s nice to be skinny, but it’s nice to have amazing skin, too.

See the predicament?  I know at end of Bootcamp in November, I mentioned Dr. Perricone’s way of eating, and I really think he is on to something.  He’s just all about anti-inflammatory ways of eating.  http://www.perriconemd.com/  He even talks about how eating sugar causes WRINKLES and AGING.  : /

I think eating a little less protein than he recommends and throwing in Fuhrman’s high nutrient way of eating might just be the perfect way of eating.  LOTS of Salmon, greens, berries, green tea, nuts, chia seeds, spirulina; again, NORMAL foods that protect against wrinkles and aging.

It is just overwhelming.  I am sure plenty of you guys feel that way, too.  We will get there, though.  Like I posted on my personal Facebook page, Hope Dies Last.  Never give up searching and learning and hoping for a better tomorrow and answers.

So back to Tracy!  The workouts went good.  I am glad Sequence One is over, though.  I have learned that the way I like to do my workouts is to do the arms, abs, and cardio in the morning.  Then later on I will do the leg portion in the evening, and I do those on a bed.  It is SO much easier on your knees and hands.  Pillows work, too, but if you can do it on your bed (that’s what she said…sorry, had to) then do your workout there. ; )

I am actually liking my first day of Sequence 2.  People have been talking about the planks, but I find them SO much easier than the planks in Bootcamp, so I’m a happy camper.

And as a side note, I am liking the new Britney album a bit more.  : )  Certain songs are no good, but it’s getting better, so I would rate it about a 6/10, with some songs being an 8/10.  “He About to Lose Me” and “Till the World Ends” are my favorite.

What do you guys like listening to when you work out?  I am LOVING System of a Down lately for cardio.

Sorry for the long post!  I will be remeasuring myself on Day 20 since I was late to take measurements, and my new scale wasn’t working but is now, so I will start weighing myself again.

And again, I will get my Spam worked out soon for comments, so if you have commented, I will reply SOON.  Sorry.  <3  I have over 2000 to go through, and most of them are junk.  :/

Much love to you all.  Hang in there, STAY HEALTHY, and move!  Even my sister’s oncologist said simply moving a half hour a day of dedicated working out is SO good for your cells, your Mitochondria, all of it, so even if it’s not causing weight loss, do it for your health.  Unless you have ever been SUPER sick for months of disease, you have no idea.  I can’t imagine what my sis is going through and everyone else who has chemo.  It’s like the flu 24/7.  Bleh.  If you can move, DO IT!!  <3
